Benefits of the MSA Ultima X5000 Fixed Gas Detector

Benefits of the MSA Ultima X5000 Fixed Gas Detector

For oxygen, hazardous, and combustible gases, the MSA ULTIMA® X5000 Gas Monitor is the future of gas detection. MSA XCell® gas sensors with TruCal® technology have a 24-month calibration cycle (local calibration respected).

The Ultima X5000 is suited to work in a variety of applications thanks to its robust housing and ability to withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +60°C. Additionally, it has almost 50 sensor specifications for a wide range of gases. We'll explore this in more depth below!

New Design

The image below displays a few of the new design features.

As you can see, the modern, multi-lingual intuitive OLED display on the gas transmitter is easy to read, and the distinctive touch-screen interface makes navigation straightforward. The X5000 is Bluetooth ready and has a small Bluetooth status indicator. This sits directly beside the 'Active Operation Indicator' that shows the monitor is in normal operation mode. Furthermore, the bright status LED allows users to visually check if there is gas present from a distance.

 Status Indicators

There are three status indicators displayed on the MSA ULTIMA X5000

  • Alarm
  • Fault
  • Power

These allow users to check the detector's status with a visual check quickly. If the unit were in 'Alarm' status, depending on the monitor, setting up an audible and visual alarm would also alert users to gas hazards.

Stay Connected | Work Smarter

You can pair the ULTIMA X5000 with MSA X/S Connect App via Bluetooth wireless technology. The X/S Connect App allows workers to

  • Check the status and get alerts from up to 70 feet (21 metres) away
  • They will also be able to modify settings, change alarm setpoints and adjust alarms
  • Initiate calibrations and view progress on the app

All of the above features and the app itself reduce the setup time by at least 50%.

Powered by XCell Sensors with TruCal Technology

You will find MSA's TruCal technology in their XCell sensors. On average, a normal sensor needs to be calibrated every 3-6 months and does not warn customers of a sensor failure until calibration. MSA's XCell sensors will notify users of a sensor failure within 6 hours of it occurring and thanks to TruCal technology calibration intervals are extended to up to 24 months. Diffusion Supervision is another key feature of TruCal technology meaning that workers are alerted when the gas cannot reach the sensor due to a blockage.

Sensors with TruCal technology proactively self-check 4 times a day to ensure they are operating as expected. An active correction technology adjusts sensor readings to environmental conditions and compensates for maturing sensor performance.

The below diagram shows the 6 steps that TruCal enables.

XCell Sensor Automatic Notifications

  • Calibration is required
  • Sensor inlet is blocked
  • Sensor nearing end-of-life

The benefits of XCell sensors paired with the MSA ULTIMA X5000 are evident. Users get peace of mind with a high performance fixed gas detection system. It has an easy to use interface for beginners and provides a robust solution to all workers, no matter the environment.
