Drager DrugCheck 3000 - How to Use It

For accurate drug test results, it's vitally important to make sure the test apparatus is being used properly. In this Frontline Safety Expert Guide, we'll cover how to use the Drager DrugCheck 3000.

Be sure to read our guide to the Top 5 Things you need to know about it here.

Before use, make yourself familiar with the instructions shown on the packaging. Once you remove the test kit from packaging, you'll notice that it consists of a sampler and a test cassette.

How Properly Use the Drager DrugCheck 3000

THE SAMPLER RING IN THE DRAGER DRUGCHECK 3000

Remove the sampler from the cassette and you'll see a coloured ring around the sampler. This will be used to indicate that a sample has been taken.

To take a sample wipe the sampler around your mouth, under your tongue and your cheeks for around 10-15 seconds. It's important that during this process you do not suck or chew the sampler.

The Drager DrugCheck 3000 is hygienic to use

Once the red ring on the sampler starts to discolour you can remove it from your mouth, at which point it should be inserted into the funnel at the top of the test cassette.

The file inside the cassette which houses the buffer solution should break, and ensure that there's no gap in-between the sampler and the cassette.

MAKE SURE THERE'S NO GAP BETWEEN THE SAMPLER AND THE CASSETTE DRAGER DRUGCHECK 3000

Now shake the cassette until the red ring around the sampler has completely discoloured, then hold the cassette upright or sit it on an even surface.

You can choose between a fast and a sensitive measurement for THC, as indicated on the packaging.  The waiting times are strict and must be adhered to, and information on wait times and limit values can be seen on the packaging.

After the wait time has passed remove the security tab to completely detach it, push the sampler straight down into the test kit until it stops and you will be able to see from the window the various substances that can be tested.

These are cocaine (COC), Opiates (OPI), amphetamine (AMP), methamphetamines/designer drugs (e.g. Ecstasy) and cannabis (THC).

The test will have now have started, and the control lines and test lines appear after 2-3 mins, allowing you to read the results.

HOW TO UNDERSTAND THE RESULTS FROM THE DRAGER DRUGCHECK 3000

If red lines appear in the viewing window in the upper control area labelled with C and alongside the substances tested, then the test is valid and none of the 5 substances has been identified.

If a red line appears in the control area but no line appears next to one of the substances then the test is positive and valid.

Should one of the control lines not appear next to the ‘C’ after 10 mins then the test is invalid.

You can see the whole process in action in our Frontline Safety Expert Video Guide.
