Time to stock up on noise monitors as preparations begin for Glastonbury 2013

Tickets for Glastonbury 2013 went on sale in October and firms working at the event might already be preparing by ordering noise monitoring apparatus.

Firms with staff working at Glastonbury 2013 might already be investing in noise monitoring apparatus ahead of the return of
one of the world's most iconic music festivals.

The event takes a one-year hiatus every decade and, after leaving the fields of Somerset to recover in 2012, it is set for a triumphant return next summer.

With approximately 150,000 festival-goers heading to the celebration of music, art and dance each year, it takes hundreds of staff members and volunteers - each of whom needs to be protected from the high levels of noise pollution - to ensure things run smoothly.

Companies sending employees to the site near Pilton would be wise to invest in noise monitoring equipment such as Dose Badges to ensure their personnel do not damage their eardrums during the five-day event.  Frontline Safety has a range of Dose Badges as well as handheld noise monitors, which can be found on the website.

According to the National Centre for Biotechnology Information, "there is sufficient scientific evidence that noise exposure can induce hearing impairment, hypertension and ischemic heart disease, annoyance, sleep disturbance, and decreased school performance".

While the latter might not be an issue for most of the volunteers and staff members at Glastonbury, the Worthy Farm events team and any company operating within the compound would be wise to guard their employees from such dangers.

The site will open its gates for Glastonbury 2013 on Wednesday 26th June and will host tens of thousands of campers until its close on Sunday 30th June.

Tickets went on sale on Sunday October 7th at 0900 BST. However, those wishing to purchase a ticket had to first pre-register on the festival's website - an attempt at cutting down on ticket touting.

Earlier this month, Worthy Farm announced that tickets will cost £205 plus a £5 booking fee per ticket and £6 post and packaging per order, with entrance for children aged 12 and under remaining free of charge.

The line-up will be announced closer to the time, but 2012 saw the likes of U2, Morrissey, Biffy Clyro, Coldplay, Beyonce, Primal Scream, Mumford & Sons, The Chemical Brothers, Queens of the Stone Age and DJ Shadow take to the stage, with 2013 expected to attract a similar calibre of artist.
