The Waterproof Surface Probe from Electronic Temperature Instruments utilises flat ribbon technology to ensure minimal heat loss occurs during a temperature reading.

The response time of the penetration probe is less than 0.5 of a second. According to ETI this indicates how the sensor takes to reach at least 66.6% of the final reading. This is an industry standard of reading measuring probe response time. It may be difficult to reach an accurate response without knowledge of the application as the results are dependent on the substance being measured.
