How to Use Drager Short-Term Detection Tubes

Drager Short Term Gas Detection Tubes are a reliable and cost-effective way of detecting the presence of gas. Depending on the gas you're looking to detect, there are hundreds of tubes to choose from. They require the Drager Accuro Gas Detection Pump, which can be purchased here.

These tubes can be used in workplaces to examine the range of legal limit values, analyse technical emissions, and measure compressed air or gas. We've broken down the selection and use of tubes into four simple steps.

Selecting Your Tubes

Speak to a specialist to determine the specific tube for your requirements. Each tube has a different measuring range and method, so the user must educate themself before each measurement. Ensure you are fully aware of how to measure with your selected tubes.

Leak Test Your Pump

To complete your leak test - insert an unopened Dräger-Tube and squeeze the pump completely. After releasing, the position of the pump body should not change within one minute. If the position does change, there may be a leak, and the pump is not safe for use.

Taking Measurements

Each tube has instructions on how to take measurements, such as the number of strokes, measurement ranges, cross sensitivities and more. Read the tube manual to understand how many strokes your gas type requires. Some only require one stroke, and some require more than ten.

Results

Once you have completed your measurement, remove the tube and read the discolouration immediately. Mark, the end of your discolouration to note your reading. The discolouration may change over time, so taking your reading immediately is a must. Once you have marked your reading, you can take your time and take note of this where required.
